Is Trump Really Leading the Polls?

For some of you this article may at first confuse you. For others, by now you have already commented and moved on. For those of you that actually take time to read the blog, instead of quickly commenting on the title, you will realize the title has nothing to do with the article. This has become a problem across our social network society.

We as a collective mind tend to scroll down until something piques our interest. But adults with childlike attention spans are only held captive for mere moments before we are off to the scrolling races again. Most often ignorantly commenting, liking, hearting, or angry facing an article or blog without having a clue what the writer said.

Taking time to read what is spread before you, gives you a true subject to comment on. The title is nothing more than a means to get your attention. You may or may not like what the writer has said but you will at least be able to make a comment on the subject at hand. Comments that have nothing to do with what has been written really bring out the ignorance of the times that we live in.

Hey, it will be ok. It’s just another day. Peace out.

Why is Religion important to our nation?

Why is religion important to our nation? To me that is a question that should never even have to be asked. But, due to the uncertain times we live in and the mindset of a new generation I think the value of religion needs to be addressed.

Having watched many protests, riots, and listened to the words of many people I clearly see that millions of people were not raised up in the manner that I was. This is not only sad, it is scary. Having attended church regularly while growing up I was taught the meaning of right and wrong. Look around and you will quickly see that for so many this teaching is a way of the past.

A whole generation of kids are being taught to be selfish, to hate, and only what they can get from someone else matters. Religions, at least most religions, teach more than learning about God and Jesus. They teach how to be a good person. More than anything else right now our nation needs good people. We need to bring back integrity. We need the pay it forward concept to take hold and sweep across our nation. Can you imagine the impact if a million people suddenly walked out of their houses and did something nice for the first person they saw.

So yes, I believe religion is extremely important for our nation to grow, thrive, and in our case to survive. Those calling for our nation to turn away from religion, must not realize what kind of society we would have, if the majority of people no longer believed in God or a higher power. Bad people will always do bad things. Just imagine a time when even the good people have no reason to stay good people.

The news of Eddie Van Halen's passing has traveled the globe

By now the news of Eddie Van Halen’s passing has traveled the globe. Millions of fans worldwide are still grieving the loss of whom most would call the best rock guitarist ever. I would have to say that I too fall into that group. Having seen Eddie in Birmingham Alabama in 1984, I can honestly say I have never seen another guitar player that impressed me that much.

I think what is equally impressive is the love now being shown for Eddie Van Halen and his family. Never would I have believed that the somewhat shy guitar player had touched as many lives as he has. One very particular bit of news that truly makes me smile inside, is that Eddie and Sammy Hagar had finally made peace. If you have ever followed Sammy to any extent you would know that he had been trying for years to win Eddies friendship back.

Other than Sammy Hagar superstars from everywhere are sharing their most touching memories and feelings for the beloved rock star. Jimmy Hendricks changed the way rock musicians played guitar, Eddie came along and changed the world. For the Van Halen family may you some how find comfort during this sad time. Just know the whole world has you in their hearts and prayers right now. Thank you and God bless you Eddie for the good times and the music that will live until the very earth passes away. RIP.

Saturday Morning Small Town Alabama :The answer is here.

Its Saturday morning here in beautiful rural, small town, Alabama. With coffee in hand I walk my dog with my weird ass cat following. As I look around my neighborhood, I realize we are a fairly, diverse area. Not only do we have Hispanics, blacks, and whites all living next door to each other we have much more diversity than that.

On my walk I pass by the rich man’s house, a possible crack house, a red neck’s house, a few middle class households, and some college age kids house. All these different people, lifestyles, races, and cultures…living together. What I see on my morning stroll would amaze some people in this country. They are all doing normal American things. Some are washing their cars, one working on a car, some doing yard work, one gathering tomatoes, and the kicker, all being neighbors.

Here in our neighborhood I have noticed that we still wave at each other as we pass or from across the street. We check on each other during emergencies (such as fires or bad weather.) Sure, we still bitch occasionally, but about normal things like teenagers driving too fast up and down the street or dogs in the trash. Is it some sort of privilege to live in our hood. Damn right it is. But, anyone with the right qualifications could live here too.

If you want to live here or a place like ours here is what you have to do. Respect your neighbors, be nice and polite, and simply treat each other as you would like to be treated. The rest seems to work itself out all by itself.

It would be an honor if you hit follow button and never miss one of my blogs. Comments are welcome, shares are appreciated.

"Just one foot in front of the other"

“Just one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking out the door.” Many of you will recognize that line from the old “Frosty the Snowman” song. After all these years it is still a good line and still a good song. It is also the very thing we Americans will have to do to move this nation forward.

Along with the rest of the world, the year 2020 has been hard on us. Just as 9/11 hit us hard, 2020 hit us harder. While 9/11 brought us together, “One nation under God.” The year 2020 divided us to the brink of civil war. Once again brother against brother fight over difference of opinion. Many have no idea what they are even fighting for at all. Citizens so spoiled and entitled no longer believe they live in the greatest nation on earth. I am not sure just where they think they will go to find a better nation, or where they will have it better.

Many are hell bent on changing our great nation drastically in order to suit their own wants and needs. Unfortunately, a perfect nation is not possible, never has been. There will always be the “Haves and have nots.” There will always be people of color, and there will always be rich and poor. This is true of every nation on this planet. How will this be fixed or even made better? This question we have pondered forever.

The “Pay it forward” idea comes to mind. One random act of kindness leads to another. Just one little step at a time. One smile, one prayer, one meal, one hug. Just put one foot in front of the other.
