Walking my dog

Walking my dog tonight I couldn’t help but notice the sky was crystal clear. The half moon was shinning and was bright enough to light our way. And…the air temp was still in the lower fifties. That is pretty, awesome, for the last part of January here in northern Alabama.

While many like me will agree we are blessed to have warm spells during our winter months, others will likely produce a conspiracy theory of why we shouldn't be happy about this. There are those that will attribute this to climate change and that we need to begin to put all our houses on stilts because we are about to be flooded. Others I’m sure will say that Trump set up the good weather just as he was leaving office.

While to me and most Americans with a little common sense all this seems far, fetched, and ridiculous. Millions of people all across our nation believe in stupid crap like this. This is what the social media generation has become. Our news is coming from writers that make a living from fueling what ever side of the public they can get a rise out of. Many believe “Memes” are real.” Surely none of my readers actually believe Bernie Sanders was spotted on Inland lake today in a bass boat. Well, in his defense if he was it probably the best thing he’s done in a really long time.

I truly hope that 2021 will be a better more productive year than the last one. We need to become a nation that does smart things again. Elon Musk can’t do it all by himself. If you think our system is broken then lend a hand to fix it. Lending a hand to fix it doesn’t mean bitching about it online, constantly posting about the political party you don’t like, or trashing cities. You want to make a difference, find productive things to focus and work on. Otherwise, you’re just part of the problem.

I personally think the beautiful Alabama weather is simply because we live in the south and we have warm spells during the winter. RIP Eddie Van Halen, 2020 sucked and we missed you. PS. Say hello to Neil Peart for us.

Civil War Talk Is Foolish

Civil war talk is foolish…and is spoken by fools. The only ones that receive a pardon from this label would be our current and former military members. They have been there and done that. They have seen what happens to nations at war. They know first, hand what is coming. So, if and when, the majority of our military members think its time to fight, only then would I be prompted to do so.

For the rest of you screaming to take our country back by force, you have obviously not thought things out completely. Most of you are bitchng because your kids aren’t back in full time school yet due to the pandemic. Spoiler alert, during and after a civil war they won’t be going back at all. You won’t be going to work everyday. You won’t earn a paycheck or receive your unemployment check.

Food supplies will be cut off or localized until they run out and people you know and love will be hungry. Some will starve. People will die. Sounds like fun huh. Not to me it doesn’t. Some across this nation cried and needed a safe place after Hilary lost the election, there will be no safe places. Many people I know could live off the land for a while, many I know wanting a war have never even camped out overnight in a tent. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but you are not ready for this kind of a war.

This civil war you are wanting is not the same as going to a rally or a protest. You don’t get to go raise a little hell for a bit and then go back home. Doesn’t matter if you like the rules of engagement or not, the other side isn’t going to care. If you have something they need they will take it. I hope for some of you this message sinks in. This rage spreading across our nation has got to be chilled somehow. Otherwise, we will destroy ourselves. It is very, sad to see such a civilized people act this way.

For many of us we have left a mess that our children and grandchildren may never be able to clean up. It is time to take a step back, take a deep breath and relax a minute. Do you really want to put our children through this or is there a better way? Your comments as usual are welcome. We don’t even have to agree. If you like or don’t like my common sense approach to things, I still invite you to follow my blog. Maybe it will not be banned from the internet. Like, share, follow, and I’ll see some of you next time.

Donald Trump's Downfall was himself

Like all United States presidents both before and those that will come after, Donald Trump had a chance to do great things. He had a chance to push America forward and bring unity across the land. Instead, he chose to make his four years in the Whitehouse all about himself. This was the beginning of his downfall.

One of the things that stands out so strongly in my mind was Trumps use of social media. Nothing wrong with a president using social media, just use it for the right reasons and in a manner that pleases more people than it pisses off. After all, he was the president of the United States…not a blogger or a social influencer living and dying on how many views he gets. Tweeting or posting accomplishments should be fine for a president unless they just plainly come off arrogant or sound like bragging. No one likes bragging.

A president that for first time in history was doing all the things he promised out on the campaign trail. But for the life of him he wouldn’t or couldn’t tone things down, and act like a grown up. He did way too many things unbecoming of our president for millions of people to overlook.

He used his four years to cater to only those that voted for him. Neglecting those that didn’t find favor with him. Had he put the same time and energy building on both sides of the political arena, he probably would have been a two, term president. Instead, he leaves the office in a whirlwind of chaos.

Hello My Friends

Hello my friends. Many of you I know personally, many through Facebook only. To each of you no matter how I know you I would like to wish you a happy and productive new year. For so many the old year sucked and I am happy to put it in the rear view mirror.

Todays blog doesn’t really have a set direction. For the first time in a long time, it just feels like a lazy Sunday morning. My dog can’t decide whether to stare outside at cats or just lay in the floor in a sunny spot. That is what you call having it made.

For me, I know I have a million things I need to do, but if I do them remains to be seen. What will you do on this beautiful day? It would be an honor if you hit the Follow button on my blog so that you never miss one. Likes and shares are great too. If you do, or did something interesting, please share it in the comments. Have a great day!

From memes to “Breaking News” stories, Facebook and Twitter are full of information. Most of this internet info is very opinionated and is the original source of “fake news.” True journalism where the writer does real research before publishing a story seems to be a lost art.

Unfortunately, readers are suckers for the printed word. Across the nation people can be emotionally connected in a matter of minutes or a few hours. Stories get shared over and over. These stories often have just enough truth to them so that they are somewhat believable. They often go viral reaching millions. Since everyone is talking about said stories and sharing them thousands of gullible internet users think they are the real deal.

Jumping to conclusions is now a way of life for many. A picture is still worth a thousand words but coupled with fake, made up words is pure garbage. Give me enough time and I can connect Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Rogers in the biggest sex scandal you have ever read. If your source of news or information comes from Facebook or Twitter you really need to look for a new source.

Keep in mind writers like myself get paid for views…not truth. Look for news sources that are not slanted only in the direction that you want to hear. Look for a news station that even in this day in time bases there stories off of facts, not slanted agendas.

I think the Russians are after me.

I think the Russians are after me. This has been bothering me for a while. There are just too many signs and I can’t keep ignoring them. I mean if my family is in danger I feel as if I need to tell someone…but who? Well here goes.

You see, Russia has two ways to get me either by land or by sea. I haven’t exactly figured out which route they will choose yet…but I bet it will be sneaky. I kinda think it will be by land. I think as I write this the sneaky Russians are crossing Alaska. Alaska is very, big and they can travel pretty much unnoticed. I think it will be just a small band of Russians on adventure type bikes…they won’t raise suspicions.

This band of rogue Russians will stay at Hostels and cheap motels as they cross the US in route to my house. Why would they be coming to my house? Well because if you will do a little research you can easily see that the road from Alaska connects with other roads and those roads lead directly to my house. I can’t believe no one else has spotted this yet. OMG are you people blind? Or do you just not care that Russians are coming to get me. Well, I have to go for now, some ones coming. Maybe in the comments later I will tell you why they are after me. Please like, share, and follow my blog for more details later-Bye.

Nashville TN December 2020

Thoughts and prayers for Nashville TN tonight. On this day December 25th 2020 a bomb exploded in downtown Nashville. While at the time of this writing only three injuries to report. Even though the injury list is small lots of damage was incurred and many lives interrupted.

Why someone chose this day and site to commit this act of terrorism is still unknown. It will take a considerable amount of time to rebuild what has been destroyed today. Nashville residents are strong and will recover from this and move forward. Nashville for what its worth Merry Christmas, the nation is watching and is with you.

Civil War Not a Good Option

With tension in our nation still at a tremendously high level, the talk of civil war is still making the rounds. Each side seems to be just itching to make the other side pay for having different ideas, wants, or opinions. One side wants to force a change across America and the other side wants people not to change. Both sides of the political arena are to blame for the mess we are in, but, has the whole civil war thing really been thought through.

So…what will happen if a civil war does break out in our great land? It will be more devastating than most alive today can imagine. The riots that have been happening would be minuscule compared to an all out civil war. As bullets begin to fly across the land no city would be safe. Trucks would stop. Food supplies gone. Hospitals shut down. Lives would be lost…many lives.

Our country’s infrastructure would be damaged, our money would be worthless. Our country and our lives as we know it would most likely never be the same again. And for what? What could cause the greatest nation on the planet to implode in on herself? Many factors have led us to this point. Greed, power, ignorance, and arrogance.

The American Dream is known all across the world. Unfortunately, the America we all know in our thoughts and dreams is slipping away. We are here in this country because we wanted to have freedoms and be different than where we came from. We should be smart enough to look around and see what has worked and hasn’t worked in other civilized countries. Will we make it as a nation to our Tri-Centennial? Not looking good at this point. What will you do to help? Will you make peace with your neighbor or will you die with him.

Covid - 19 is Personal not Political

The statement Covid 19 is personal not political is 100% correct. Having a longtime friend pass away recently and another coming real close to passing as well put it in perspective for me. It should for all of us. Some however would rather make fun of others for trying to safely go about their business. Many excuses are made daily as to why masks won’t be worn. Most are bullshit. I’d like to share with you a post from a dear friend that has been through and is still suffering from this so called hoax and fake virus. Many out there should be ashamed of themselves.

Covid Recovery Update: I have been off the vent for 12 and a 1/2 weeks now. Any improvements have been very slow coming. My oxygen still drops easily with very little exertion. I am on 4 1/2 liters 24/7. I still have what feels like carpet coating my throat and preventing me from talking above a whisper. The coughing spells have became more violent but they are not as often. I have crazy random hot flashes in my head along with the numb area on my scalp that is still holding fast. I have lost half of my hair and doesn't seem to be slowing down despite doubling up on biotin and other vitamins. If it gets any worse, I will pull a Demi or a Brittany and buzz my head! The sleep study report said that I stopped breathing 23 times an hour and my oxygen dropped to 81. They want me to come back for another study to get a cpap. I haven't heard from my ECHO test yet. My neck stays sore and the headaches are becoming more prominent. The only way I can get a good nites sleep is by soaking in a hot bath with Epson salt and taking a liquid Nyquil tablet and an ambien. Haven't been doing my breathing treatments much unless I get scared. The Dr doesn't think they are helping me. My teeth and face stays sore. Praying my teeth don't fall out like some covid survivors do. My taste is nonexistant and my smell is off and on. I smiled when I smelled a skunk today...but it stunk! I finished my home therapy this past Friday and tomorrow at 7:45am, I will start 12 weeks of pulmonary therapy at the hospital, 3 times a week. I'm still having doubts that I will ever catch back up on my life! Having to do paperwork everyday for taxes, insurance, Healthcare, and logging my exercises that I have to do twice a day. My ability to concentrate for very long has greatly diminished. The tremors in my hand have improved a little but I still can't read my own handwriting. The extreme fatigue and shortness of breath is hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit. The bladder still has a mind of its own. SS has suggested some puppy pads🤣. Still so thankful for all the treats and goodies that friends and family have brought over and everyone still offering to help. It is so appreciated! My heart might not be working correctly but it is still smiling and so am I.

Wear a mask.

Social distance.

Wash your hands.

COVID IS EVIL!!!

I am fully aware that politicians use anything and everything to further their agendas. Both sides do it. What is hard for me to fathom is normal decent people so caught up in politics that they can no longer do the right thing. Washing my hands is easy. Wearing a mask when in a crowed area is easy. Many other things we do on a daily basis are for safety and we do them, this is no different. Only you can prevent forest fires.

“You can’t please everyone.”

“You can’t please everyone.” This is a statement that has been handed down to us for generations. Our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents knew it to be true. Unfortunately pleasing everyone at the same time will never be possible. We are humans, we don’t all think the same or even want the same things.

Here in the USA in less than three hundred years we built what was considered the greatest nation on earth. Just look at us now. Arguing amongst ourselves as we go through some pretty, tough, growing pains. We, at this point in time are our worst enemy. Not China, not Russia, or North Korea. Ourselves. Being such a great nation is why people from all over the world want to come here. They strive to have what we have. It is sad that we as a nation have taken what we have for granted.

We are a land of diverse people. “You can’t please everyone.” We as a nation have to find some common ground in order to survive. In order to remain strong enough to keep our enemies at bay. The talk of states seceding from the union is both stupid and dangerous. So many right now need to take a step back, calm down, and start to form rational thoughts. A state without a country these days won’t stand on its own very long. “Together we stand united we fall,” is not just a cute saying…it holds water.

There is no such thing as a perfect political party, both our main parties are seriously flawed. Both have good ideas as well as bad. Both have some decent people and both have some crooks. What took us as a nation hundreds of years to build, we may destroy in only one generation. I realize that change is hated by most everyone, but it is coming whether we like it or not. It is up to us to steer these changes in a direction that won’t destroy us or leave us vulnerable to our enemies. Common sense seems to be somewhat lacking these days. Words and actions are our most valuable tools we have, use them wisely.

It would be an honor to have you follow my blog. Your comments are welcome, whether you agree with me or not. Have a great Day.

The World is Watching

Most that know me, know that I just do not buy into a bunch of conspiracy theories. I tend to put more stock into rational thought. Respect is earned and I respect people most that show that they have common sense. Not loud mouths. Right now it seems that our nation is plagued with loud mouths and a lack of common sense.

The whole world is watching us as we self-destruct among ourselves. The civil war has already begun, just on a different battlefield than before. Political agendas are probably the root of all our problems. Both sides, not just one side. And what fuels these different agendas is the same as it has always been…greed and power. Once greed and power has been attained it isn’t easily given up.

On the daily there are arguments erupting on every social media site over the Covid-19 virus. Granted, we may never know the true origin of the Covid-19 virus, the one fact is that it is here, and it is real. Keeping people safe, doing our part to keep others safe is not a political agenda. It is however a human agenda. If you let a political party dictate doing what is morally right or wrong, you have already lost your way. Right and wrong is not about politics.

No matter which side of the political fence you are on, if your views, opinions, and actions concerning the Covid-19 virus are based strictly on politics you may want to do some soul searching. You alone are responsible for your thoughts and actions. It doesn’t matter which side puts safety practices in place or favors them, it is our duty to follow them if there is a chance that our actions will help others. That is the right thing to do. So many right now are fueled by ignorance or the outright stupidity of others. Which side of the pandemic will your actions fall under…right or wrong?

Why Masks Suck!

Yes…I said it, masks suck. Masks are hot. Masks are uncomfortable. Masks fog up my glasses. Masks wearing in general tends to piss me off. Well, for twenty years of my life my job required me to wear a mask. And if wearing a mask wasn’t bad enough, I had to wear the thing in some areas that were 120 degrees at times.

How dare that company infringe on my rights and make me work safely. Didn’t they know I had rights? So what if I got hurt on the job, or inhaled dust and fumes? My choice right? Hell, insurance would have paid for it. And they were always slowing me and my partner down making us lock machines out before we worked on them. How stupid, machines make money only when they run, not shut down. And if others got hurt because we didn’t lock something out…well maybe they should have just stayed out of the way. Right?

Now that I have whined and cried like a little bitch and read it all back, it all sounds a little bit silly. But, as of now it seems much of the world has gone silly. Safety precautions often suck, but they do help keep us safe and those around us safe. It was a big deal at the plant I worked for, for everyone that came in went home at the end of the shift. So many of you reading this will relate to every word. Many still won’t care. But as I cringe as I put my mask on to go in Wal-Mart I know that whether or not the stupid thing is 100% effective…at least I tried to help by doing my part.

The way I see it, even with Asthma I survived hellish heat wearing a mask at work all those years, I will probably make it through fifteen or twenty minutes walking through an air conditioned store.

Racism Will Not Disappear on Election Day

Racism will not disappear on election day. Doesn’t matter which side wins or loses, racism will still be here. No elected official can suddenly end what is engrained in people’s hearts just by taking office. It will take generations of education and cooperation for the people of this nation to truly live together. Racism, jealousy, and greed have been around since the dawn of man. Don’t think for a minute that an elected official or a political party is going to come in and miraculously fix things.

As most watch in horror as our nation gets burned, torn down, and utterly, destroyed from the inside out, some dance in the streets thinking they are making things better. When in reality, the changes they are trying to forcefully make are dividing our country farther apart than it was before.

Racism will not disappear on election day, there I said it again. That type of change will not happen because of a political party. Why? Because they do not care. It does not make them money. Change will come about from the family. Change will start with a generation of children that aren’t taught to hate. Children that are once again taught right from wrong. Children that are taught to work and provide for themselves and their families. That is when we as a nation and even a planet will turn the corner and live in a better place.

What a Day

Reflecting back on the day, my mind plays over and over all the ignorance I have seen. One lady blew through a stop sign. With her phone riding high atop her steering wheel, she texted for half a block before she realized what she had done. She then slammed on the brakes and looked around to see who might have been watching. Another fine citizen stopped at a stop sign and proceeded to text as if he were waiting for the sign to change to green so he could go.

There was much more ignorance than that today out on the road, but we’ll move on for now. It’s not just the ignorance of this day and time that bothers me but the inconsideration of others as well. Parking in a handicap spot when you are perfectly healthy…not cool. Many times I have dropped my elderly mom off in town while I circled the parking lot, waiting for a closer spot to become available. Many times I have personally witnessed young healthy people come strolling out and get in there cars that were sitting in the handicap spot.

Unfortunately, the world is full of these self-absorbed, selfish individuals. It seems we are stuck with them. They feel entitled somehow to act this way. A product of their raising I guess. What to do about them, your guess is as good as mine. But if you have any suggestions, I’m all ears. Your comments below are always welcome. Please take the time to Follow my blog…just hit the little blue button. Have a great day.

Are we as a race mature enough for the internet?

This morning like so many Sunday mornings, I had my first cup of coffee while walking my dog. Next, I settled down at my computer to do a morning jog through the internet. To no surprise the internet was kinda like I left it the night before. Angry and chaotic. Welcome to this new generations normal.

I remember many years ago when we began reading about this new thing coming called the internet. The internet would let people travel the world, explore new places, and learn great things, all from the comfort of our homes. And you know what…all that came to pass. The internet also exceeded every expectation we had. Knowledge from all corners of the earth is at our fingertips. Communication is instant across the globe. But were we as a race mature enough for all this technology?

In the time of our grandparents, news came from good reliable sources. The news came on TV in the evenings and was watched by millions of families across the nation. Families would often discuss current events while having their evening meal. Families would form opinions before they left the house for work the next day. Is this as a nation where we are going wrong? Quite possibly.

These days news doesn’t often come from good reliable sources. It comes instantly from thousands of sources across the internet. We are bombarded by some type of “news” story 24 hrs. a day. These days two turtles crossing the road classifies as “Breaking News.” Everyone has an opinion and they are quick to share. Most don’t bother thinking about it first, researching it, or even caring if it is based on fact.

Now don’t get me wrong, I still think the internet is a wonderful thing. Much good has been done through the wealth of knowledge we now have access to. But, on a daily basis, we as a race continually tear each other down using this most awesome platform. Accountability is lacking in todays society. News anchors, bloggers, and journalist of all kind should be re-taught their craft. News stories should be based on facts, not opinions.

Readers have a stake in this platform as well. How many times have you commented on an article based on the title alone? As a writer I notice this every day. So many times the main Idea of an article isn’t even what the title referred to. When you make a comment on something you didn’t read, you often just look silly. Sometimes it’s in our best interest to slow down, take a step back and think before we act.

Thanks for reading my blog. Like it, share it, and please Follow it if you would like to see more.

Early Sunday Morning

Its early Sunday morning here in north central Alabama. Coffee is hot, the air is crisp, and I literally have no idea what I’m about to write about. I guess that will truly make this a “Just Another Day” blog. Oh well…here goes.

My first random thought for today is last nights football game between Alabama and Georgia. For us Alabama fans it was a little too close for comfort until after half time when the Tide seem to get things rolling. Well… the field goal just before the half helped a bit. Our quarterback that seem to have a lot of naysayers before the season started now is being held up on a pretty, high pedestal. Possible Heisman pedestal. Lots of arm chair QB’s and coaches in college football. Got a comment on any of that please take a minute and leave it below.

Some what still on the subject was the comments about the Auburn football game yesterday. Now being a die hard Bama fan I could care less if Auburn ever wins a game. What does bother me is the hate instantly thrown out online for the young Auburn QB. Did he have a bad game…yes. Did he have a bad game all by himself? I’m pretty sure other players were out there with him contributing to the bad game experience. But, where the blame should be put was on the coaching staff. They were the ones that prepared for the loss. Play calling, execution, and overall readiness is a coaching problem. Your thoughts are welcome below.

Well I’m gonna cut this little ditty shorter than usual, I think I hear a squirrel chewing on my house. See ya.

Is Trump Really Leading the Polls?

For some of you this article may at first confuse you. For others, by now you have already commented and moved on. For those of you that actually take time to read the blog, instead of quickly commenting on the title, you will realize the title has nothing to do with the article. This has become a problem across our social network society.

We as a collective mind tend to scroll down until something piques our interest. But adults with childlike attention spans are only held captive for mere moments before we are off to the scrolling races again. Most often ignorantly commenting, liking, hearting, or angry facing an article or blog without having a clue what the writer said.

Taking time to read what is spread before you, gives you a true subject to comment on. The title is nothing more than a means to get your attention. You may or may not like what the writer has said but you will at least be able to make a comment on the subject at hand. Comments that have nothing to do with what has been written really bring out the ignorance of the times that we live in.

Hey, it will be ok. It’s just another day. Peace out.

Why is Religion important to our nation?

Why is religion important to our nation? To me that is a question that should never even have to be asked. But, due to the uncertain times we live in and the mindset of a new generation I think the value of religion needs to be addressed.

Having watched many protests, riots, and listened to the words of many people I clearly see that millions of people were not raised up in the manner that I was. This is not only sad, it is scary. Having attended church regularly while growing up I was taught the meaning of right and wrong. Look around and you will quickly see that for so many this teaching is a way of the past.

A whole generation of kids are being taught to be selfish, to hate, and only what they can get from someone else matters. Religions, at least most religions, teach more than learning about God and Jesus. They teach how to be a good person. More than anything else right now our nation needs good people. We need to bring back integrity. We need the pay it forward concept to take hold and sweep across our nation. Can you imagine the impact if a million people suddenly walked out of their houses and did something nice for the first person they saw.

So yes, I believe religion is extremely important for our nation to grow, thrive, and in our case to survive. Those calling for our nation to turn away from religion, must not realize what kind of society we would have, if the majority of people no longer believed in God or a higher power. Bad people will always do bad things. Just imagine a time when even the good people have no reason to stay good people.

The news of Eddie Van Halen's passing has traveled the globe

By now the news of Eddie Van Halen’s passing has traveled the globe. Millions of fans worldwide are still grieving the loss of whom most would call the best rock guitarist ever. I would have to say that I too fall into that group. Having seen Eddie in Birmingham Alabama in 1984, I can honestly say I have never seen another guitar player that impressed me that much.

I think what is equally impressive is the love now being shown for Eddie Van Halen and his family. Never would I have believed that the somewhat shy guitar player had touched as many lives as he has. One very particular bit of news that truly makes me smile inside, is that Eddie and Sammy Hagar had finally made peace. If you have ever followed Sammy to any extent you would know that he had been trying for years to win Eddies friendship back.

Other than Sammy Hagar superstars from everywhere are sharing their most touching memories and feelings for the beloved rock star. Jimmy Hendricks changed the way rock musicians played guitar, Eddie came along and changed the world. For the Van Halen family may you some how find comfort during this sad time. Just know the whole world has you in their hearts and prayers right now. Thank you and God bless you Eddie for the good times and the music that will live until the very earth passes away. RIP.
